User Guide | Cupping Therapy | Rave and Rejuvenate – raveandrejuvenate

Cupping therapy is an ancient traditional and complementary medicine practice. It can be traced back to ancient Chinese, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern cultures. The technique is even described in one of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, which means ancient Egyptians may have been using cupping therapy as early as 1,550 B.C.

Cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction, which draws the tissue into the cups. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow. Applied at the right place and time, the cups help unlock the muscular and energy systems.

Recently, there is growing evidence of its potential benefits in the treatment of pain-related diseases and beauty care.

THE WORKING MECHANISM BEHIND CUPPING:

It says: "Where there's stagnation, there will be pain. Remove the stagnation, and you remove the pain." This is exactly what cupping seeks to address.

Cupping decompresses and gently suctions and lifts the skin and the underlying tissue, effectively penetrating several layers of skin and sucks the congested blood out of the skin. The suction process helps remove the energy blockages and stagnant, increase blood and lymphatic circulation, and encourage the nutrient-rich blood flow to the cupping areas. As a result, it encourages the body to heal and regenerate.

THE BENEFITS OF CUPPING THERAPY:

A. Cupping Benefits In Beauty Care:

Anti-Aging Facial Cupping:

Given the improved blood circulation a cupping-therapy can induce on its recipient, the suction process applied via cupping, promotes the rejuvenation of the layer of collagen and elastin under the skin, providing better nutrition, as well as giving the skin a healthy young glow.

    • Lift Sagging Face: cheek-lift, eyelid-lift, jowl-lift
    • Tones up and evens out the jaw-line
    • Tighten pores
    • Drains stagnant fluid to ease puffiness and reduce edema
    • Increases collagen production for youthfulness
    • Soften and reduce scar tissue
    • Enhances absorption of face products you use.

Anti-Cellulite Body Cupping:

  • Cellulite is way more common than you think. Cellulite is a condition in which the skin has a dimpled, lumpy appearance, accumulating mostly on the hip, thigh, arms, and buttocks area. Cellulite is mainly caused by a genetic condition that allows for a retention of fluids, as a result causing an ineffective blood circulation, caused by weak veins and an inefficient lymphatic drainage system. More fat cells are also developed, caused by hormonal imbalances. These factors all contribute to transforming fat cells beneath the skin into cellulite.

    How cupping massage can help:

    • Vacuum from cupping massage is a DIY method for anti-cellulite massage at home.
    • By improving local microcirculation, encouraging lymphatic drainage and stimulating the fascial tissues beneath the skin, cupping has been proven to decrease cellulite effectively, making skin more elastic and flexible.

B. Cupping Benefits in Health Care:

Back and Shoulder Pains

Cupping Therapy is a good way to treat joints and back pain that arise from exhaustive physical effort. Properly positioned, the cups help to improve blood circulation in the area where pain is present, reduce inflammation, and relax the muscles, removing the troublesome pain.

With a cupping-treatment, a suction process is created, lifting the skin over the muscles, targeting soft tissue with applied pressure to the areas affected by pain and swelling, this process will help the blood vessels and capillaries expand, paving the way for fresh infusion of blood, carrying nutrients and oxygen for the healing process of damage and injuries. This new blood flow will help to flush away accumulated toxins and impurities that may have been causing the pain.

A better blood-flow also helps stimulate the stiff muscle tissue to relax and relieve pain.

Enhance Detoxification Process: Injury can cause the energy and blood circulation in the body to become stagnant. If blood does not circulate properly, impurities build up inside the body. Impurities include toxins, pathogenic elements, and broken down or worn out cell debris. The buildup can cause illness in the body, but detoxification through cupping can help remove these impurities. When the blood cleanses itself, impurities are removed from the body by the skin, liver, kidneys, and intestines. Cupping therapy can help speed up this natural detoxification process.

How cupping can help:

As suction is created between the cup and skin tissue, the impurities inside the inner layer of tissue and muscle are pulled towards the layer, undergoing the suction. Fresh blood and lymph rush to the area and bring nutrients and oxygen to the affected site. This process heals damaged cells and causes the body to feel rejuvenated and refreshed. The blood and lymph carry away any toxins to the skin, kidneys, liver, intestines, and lungs to be expelled naturally.

Cupping benefits in health care: Cupping has many purported benefits, including:

    • Alleviating pain
    • Reducing muscle tightness
    • Increasing a limited range of motion
    • Increasing oxygen in local areas from increased local blood flow
    • Reducing inflammation
    • Increasing blood flow.

1. HOW TO DO FACIAL CUPPING:

Step 1: Clean face. Use the facial cleansing scrub to gently exfoliate the skin by removing deep dirt, makeup, and dead skin.

Step 2: Apply facial oil or cream to your face, neck, chest generously for easy massage. Cups may also be used in the shower with water and body wash or soap.

Step 3: Choose the right size for the target area. Squeeze and place a cup on your skin and release it to create suction.

Step 4: Moving the cup (after the diagram lines in the Figure), using:

  1. Gliding massage strokes in up and down, zigzag pattern, or side to side (follow the arrows indicated in the Figure). Use your free hand to anchor skin behind the cup to prevent pulling on the skin and for smoother strokes. Repeat 3-5 times per area.
  2. Flush cupping techniques (Suction - Lift - Release – Repeat) to drain sinuses, between T-zone, around your mouth, eye and lip areas (marked by X in the Figure) with the smaller cups.

** To see better results, practice cupping consistently with your favorite skincare product (oil, moisturizer, serum) for at least 4-6 weeks, 5 -10 minutes per session, 2-3 times a week.

How to use a Silicone Exfoliating Brush?

  • Apply a suitable amount of cleanser on the brush.
  • Move it with circular motions, avoiding the delicate area of your eyes.
  • Massage for 3 minutes, then rinse.

Direction: Work on one side at a time.

Warning:

  • Do not leave the cup at a spot for more than 3-5 seconds or cupping marks will appear and may take days or weeks to go away. (keep the cup moving to avoid marks).
  • Do not cup over new scars acne, sunburned skin, raised moles, herpes or other skin inflammations.
  • To create a stronger suction, compress the cup more, for lighter intensity, compress less. Start with light suction first.
  • Use small cups for eye and lip areas, larger cups for face and neck.
  • Instead of oil, cupping massage with foam while washing face in the morning or evening.
  • Slow movement helps stimulate fluids. Faster movement boosts circulation, collagen, and elastin.
  • Temporary pinkish or reddening appearance of the skin surface, tingling or light itching after cupping is expected owing to increasing blood circulation and vascularity of cupped areas. These effects are typically normal and will disappear shortly.

2. CELLULITE CUPPING

Cellulite is way more common than you think.

Cupping therapy will stimulate tissue oxygenation, cell metabolism, blood circulation, cell renewal and increased firmness of the skin. Applying this treatment repeatedly, will get you, a smooth adipose tissue under the skin and, thus removing cellulite and fat cells as well.

Before cupping, Identify the treatment area: Determine where on the body to place the cups. When using cupping to treat cellulite, you will need to apply the treatment directly to the affected area.

  1. Apply oil to the cupping area (or use in the shower with water and soap or body wash instead).
  2. Squeeze and place a cup on your skin and release it to create suction.
  3. Moving a cup in spiral, zigzag, or circular motion to break up fascial adhesions that cause cellulite. Begin with light suction on the treated area to loosen the fascia. Increase the suction as you feel the area softens.
  4. Complete your massage by drinking plenty of water to flush out cellular toxins. ⁣

**It is normal for the skin to change color and turn pink as the cups increase blood circulation in the muscles and tissue.

3. HEADACHES/ MIGRAINES CUPPING

  1. Apply oil to the base of the neck to facilitate strong adhesion of the cup to the skin.
  2. Squeeze and place 2 body cups (smaller cups) to the base of the neck (see Figure) and leave in a static position for 7 to 10 minutes. Continue gliding a cup up and down along the base of the neck for several minutes to balance the tension.
  3. Use a large facial cup to massage forehead following Facial Cupping Figure. (keep the cup moving to avoid marks)

Note: Follow static cupping treatment (suction and leave cups at a spot), cupping marks are inevitable. Cupping marks can last 5 to 15 days, depending on the severity of the application.

Shoulder, back, and hip pain relief cupping points

Cupping has been known as a good way to treat joints and muscle pains that arise from exhaustive physical effort or modern life routine - sitting too long. It helps to improve blood circulation in the area where pain is present, reduce inflammation, and relax the muscles, removing the troublesome pain.

With a cupping-treatment, a suction process is created, lifting the skin over the muscles, targeting soft tissue with applied pressure to the areas affected by pain and swelling, this process will help the blood vessels and capillaries expand, flushing away accumulated toxins and lymphatic drainage, which may have been causing the pain, and paving the way for fresh infusion of blood, carrying nutrients and oxygen for the healing process, A better blood-flow helps stimulate the stiff muscle tissue to relax, relieving the user of pain.

    1. Apply oil or cream to the treatment site.
    2. Static or dynamic (massage). Apply the cup to the painful area. Once suction is created, move the cup slowly along the area to achieve deep penetration of the fascia and underlying tissue to break up knots and congestion. Recommended use 3-5 minutes per area.
